We all have been endowed with natural talents and abilities. I call them also Gifts.
We are born with certain capacities to do specific things. If we have the gift of 'something' it will be easier for us to do them compared to performing other tasks. For example, I am an accountant by training and working with numbers is easier for me than say, painting a picture.
I believe that the talents and gifts we have are not for ourselves but for others around us. That may sound counter-intuitive but it is something to think about...
There are many talents we are born with. For example:
Service: helping others in practical ways
Giving: of our money, time, advices etc. to those in need
Exhortation: some people are very good at uplifting the spirit of those who are tired and anxious
Compassion: empathy in action, genuine care, heartfelt love
Administration and management
Intercession: prayer
Teaching
And the list can go on...
And of course, it is not because certain skills are harder for us that we should not strive to get better at them, for example loving people ;)
What we do with those talents determine our ROI (Return on Investment) and the possibilities for us to handle bigger gifts. In other words, the more we use them to bless others, the more we receive. It 's the principle of sowing and reaping.
If God can trust us with the little we have, He will increase our capacity to handle much more.
And this is valid for everything we manage, whether it is money, time, friendship, relations etc.
